Surgery without consent: There must be a better way.

Lots of times hospitals do surgery without consent and some people, myself included, feel this is wrong. There should be forms you fill out in the hospital in advance, like a healthcare proxy, that says you either will or will not allow them to do surgery without permission.I can understand if someone is unconsious due to cardiac arrest that they would do surgery without consent. But what if the hospital is involved in research. Horrible twisted surgical research on unsuspecting people? If the government takes no action, then where is the protection of being an American Citizen?
